iPhone X Face ID Unlock Fail

Some in the comments claiming the iPhone X was restarted but restart message on iPhone clearly states “restart” as the reason for extra authentication. Failed Touch ID attempts on the other hand will eventually result in the message Craig got on stage. Try it yourself, repeatedly touch you iPhone sensor with the wrong finger and you’ll eventually get “Your passcode is required to enable Touch ID”.

The telling moment for me is when he rubs his face. The way he rubbed his face instantly…

The telling moment for me is when he rubs his face. The way he rubbed his face instantly implies he's had an issue previously. Granted, it could have been a nervous rub… Time will tell. Either way, I remain skeptical of face unlock in general. There's something about the motion and visual obstruction that hasn't grown on me. Maybe Apple will do it better or maybe we'll just deal with pass codes (many still do anyway).

Watching this on my iphone 4 😎

Problem was with the Face ID.. you must first type the passcode on every new fresh Start (restart) like by the FingerPrint.
He forgot it.. or the idiot that boot up the Device forgot, for the presention..^^

Samsung party all day long after this incident

facial recognition got a hit

If you really look at it it was never unlocked. It said to activate faceid you have to unlock with pass code first.

From the brilliant mind that brought us bend-gate. A lesson about how to talk about nothing for 6 minutes…

That is a natural failure, as the first technology starts , the responding becomes at it lowest points , and by the time , the technology is developed in many different ways , and the percentage of failure downgrades to its lowest point ((as usual))

yes guys apple posted the reason for this it didn't actually fail. it was because other people who weren't Craig ? we're trying it out so it counted as a failed attempt at face id so when Craig tried it required passcode cus all the attempt was used up by people who were not Craig

STEVE IS CRYING, STUPID ,,,,

I don't know what happened actually but do you really think APPLE, one of the biggest companies in the world won't fix this shit?
Boy, every time apple fails at something they come right back up and even harder. I'm not obsessed with apple but come on, are you really that scared of the iPhone X? You must be crazy as hell. No matter what apple do dude I ain't going to Samsung shitty devices

Just gotta wait till the next Steve Jobs comes strolling by and says "I don't like it"

This is why I always use the simple 4-digit unlock code instead. I still love my iPhone tho.

Even though im not buying it i will still defend it. First of all it is not fail Apple says before craig uses his face to unlock other people holds the iPhone before him and the iPhone scans their face but after 5face attempt iPhone will requir you to type in your passcode just like Touch ID when you have 5 failed attempts to unlock iPhone with wrong or sweaty fingerprint the iPhone will require you to type your passcode to be able to use Touch Id again you need to type passcode to be able to use it again it requires you because of the 5 failed attempt in Touch ID or Face ID

And the conspiracy theories begin… 👀

Yes. I'll be reluctant to buy it until full assurance that it's functional.

Ordered the Note 8 as soon as it happened.

Did they copy a bit of Galaxy S8 and just made it better so it doesn't look like it was plagiarized it?

Reply

Apple: let's raise the resolution of our phones screen (still inferior to Note/galaxy 8), give it face recognizition (obviously inferior to galaxy Note 8), and give it processing speed no ordinary smart phone user needs in the real world. Oh and let's charge $1000 for it just because it looks prettier than the iPhone 8.💯💯💯💯

Everyone knows that the new iPhones have this lift to wake up : what if a guy wanted to see the beautiful display and lifted it sometimes , until it said : Your Passcode is required to enable face ID?

Reply

Wonder if it was because he was wearing make up on stage and didn't have it on when he set it up?

Reply

I guess i'll buy note8 or mi mix.  lost

Reply

anyways, s8 look much better than iPx

Reply

I mean I would have been cool with a finger print scanner on the back but

Still secured! And thats what is best in iPhone!!!
Haven't faced any error during Touch ID??
Its similar!!!
Chill!!

The Face ID was not setup on the phone or was disabled, hence the issue might have arose. You can clearly see the text saying "your passcode is required to enable Face ID" when he tries it for the second time.

In the galaxy s8 and note 8 there was no mistakes whatsoever

Reply

an iris unlock is much better, and simpler than facial recognition

Apple literally made the worlds fastest phone yet these fags are still complaining about the headphone jack
Pathetic

I'm not a murican so not a problem for me

So someone could ask to take a pic with you, and you'd be paying them things without knowing…

iPhone seems like they are standing for doing this right. However about the iPhone X, personally I am gonna wait and see. I feel they went over their head with this face ID. Touch ID was fast, responsive and easy to use. Don't fix it if it's not broken.

Reply

just pause at first seconds and see that iPhone says : " Your Passcode is required to enable Face ID" It is said only when you restart a phone. I tried my wrong fingers ob my phone and it just said "Touch ID or enter the passcode"
silly people

What if i guy decided to grow some facial hair?

Reply

Whatever your theory about the failure, you gotta admit the embarrassing "ho-ho-ho!" Is pretty hilarious

read the message on the iPhone X screen when the pin code comes up…it wasn't a fail. The FaceID was locked out message: "passcode is required to enable FaceID" not "Try Again" which is what happens when TouchID or FaceID fails. When it fails 5 times you get the passcode is required message that the presenter got. @Brad Chou your are right. i came here to tell this guy the same guys. he doesn't research properly.

Very disappointed with the new iPhone 10. I am going with the GS8+. The iPhone 10 still has a basel all the way around the device. Apple has lost its magic.
